On a very hot and steamy Thursday morning we set off from Beacon Hill to get more photographs of the rust infestations on our endemic Eugenia species. Some of us were suffering the after effects of the punishing walks we had done during the field trips after the CREW Workshop and the weather was not conducive to hard walking.
Close to the office we came across Aspidoglossum ovalifolium amongst the grass as well as some robust stalks of Cyphia elata.

I pushed ahead and found suitable rust-infested leaves on Eugenia verdoorniae for the photographs I needed for an article to be submitted to the Botanical Society journal, Veld & Flora, and then we all turned tail for the shelter and coolness of the picnic sites at the offices.
