Cubica Heights 28 April 2022

Returning to Cubica Heights is always extremely special and seeing the Outeniqua Fall’s cascade down into the valley below after the tremendous water we’ve had was breath-taking to see.  The scenery leaves on standing on the edge of these cliff looking down and feeling at peace and appreciating the beauty of this reserve in this country.

The air was cool and on this windless day we set out strolling down the hill and exploring the cliff edges, at midday we found our way into the forest edge and whilst orchids were sleeping it was totally magical and one could simply spend forever there.  We finally crept out back into the sunshine and ambled along the edge of the gorge admiring the trees in flowers and seeing Erica Cubica grow on the edge on a seepage just above the beautiful Alberta Magna.

A very special day for all being able to botanize here and we all left with our spirits free, full and happy.

Alf - Wondering Heights...

This photograph was taken two years ago and I thought that the tree was dead.  Two years laters returning to the same spot, this same tree was very much alive.

Seemed dead.

Very much alive.

Back at the vehicles looking at "takkies".

Analysing what this "takkie" could be.
